Open Letter for leaders of political parties: National Network For India
January 5, 2009
Dear Leaders Of Political Parties,
A DESPERATE APPEAL FROM A DESPERATE PEOPLE.
Mumbai 26/11/2008 was almost the last straw that could break the spirit and backbone of the Indian Citizen…unguarded, uncared for, sorely neglected by the very people we elected to look after our individual and national interest. What can be worse than the fate of people who are terrorised not just by Terrorists but by their own leaders, security agencies and related goondas? Not much.
As privileged members of a self titled elite, guarded by scores of security personnel, whisked from place to place and into public places through special access routes, the Indian political, bureaucratic, judicial establishments live lives cocooned and kept a safe distance away from those who survive the hustle and bustle of everyday living. Isn’t it time to break out of this artificial divide? Isn’t it time to treat us with respect? Isn’t it time to serve our needs instead of focussing on your vested interests? The way things are spiralling out of control we are almost out of time.
SO CHANGE YOU MUST. HEAR OUR DESPERATE APPEAL FOR JUSTICE, SECURITY & A DECENT QUALITY OF LIFE. LOOK WITHIN YOURSELVES & ROOT OUT THE EVIL CRIMINAL FORCES THAT HAVE SO EXTENSIVELY PENETRATED YOUR ENVIRONMENT.
For if you continue avoiding this reality, soon, very soon most of your political associates will be unrepentant criminals. What an irony that even today India, that is Bharat, where our National Motto is ‘Satyameva Jayate’, has a large and steadily increasing number of criminals occupying the hallowed halls of Parliament and State Assemblies. When the rot has infiltrated the Top, it spreads in no time to take over the several establishments of government and governance. India today proves this gruesome reality.
The standard excuse, What can we do when people vote them in? is no longer acceptable. The real reason is that you field them as candidates because of their resources of black money, strong-arm retinues make them Winnable. So much so that today all parties, national, regional and local have them on their books. If your self esteem accepts such degradation, then perhaps your personal sense of fear might alert you to the dangers of supping with the devil. Remember Taliban and the US, Bhindranwala and Indira Gandhi, LTTE and Rajiv Gandhi.
Our Appeal to you comes from a fearful and insecure citizen…worried and harassed by a legion of criminal players functioning across the country at most levels of activity. Please hear our Plea and Act Now to Pledge Not to give tickets to those with criminal records…heinous crime charges, convictions under appeal…none of these loopholes must enable them to escape the ban.
Do take us seriously. Ours is not a frivolous action. Ask anyone…rich and poor, young and old, urban and rural and you will find the plea is universal.
CAN YOU MAKE A PUBLIC STATEMENT COMMITTING YOUR PARTY TO ABHOR CRIMINALS & KEEP THEM OUT? AND WHAT BETTER DAY TO DO THIS THEN ON JANUARY 26th 2009. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO CELEBRATE THE BIRTHDAY OF OUR REPUBLIC. A DAY WHEN YOU GIVE BACK TO US, THE WORRIED PEOPLE OF INDIA, THE GLOW OF HOPE, THE JOY OF A BETTER FUTURE, THE REAL IDEA OF INDIA AS A JUST, FAIR AND CARING COUNTRY FOR ALL.
JAI HIND!
