Sena-BJP want 80 per cent job quota for locals

Mumbai: Playing the ‘local’ card to woo voters of Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance on Monday announced that it would seek ‘strict implementation’ of the provision for reserving 80%jobs in the state for inhabitants. “The Sena-BJP combine, if voted to power, would ensure vigorous implementation of the provision for setting aside 80% jobs for sonsof-the-soil,¶ the saffron combine’s poll manifesto, released by senior leaders including Uddhav Thackeray and Gopinath Munde here on Monday, said. 

The manifesto also promised that the Sena-BJP government will waive farmers’ loans and launch pension scheme for farm labourers who are over 65 years. 

Farm loans would be made available at four per cent interest, it said. 

Prices of essential items would be kept stable for five years, the manifesto said.
