Jats seek OBC quota in Delhi varsity

NEW DELHI: A delegation of the Jat community led by DPCC general secretary Naresh Kumar met Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal here on Wednesday and presented a memorandum demanding that the Other Backward Classes reservation list be implemented in Delhi University.

Dr. Kumar, who was accompanied among others by the president of 360 Khap Palam, Kishen Chand Solanki and the Pradhan of 96 Khap Mehrauli, Prithvi Singh besides former Delhi University Students’ Union president Amit Malik and former DUSU president and DPCC general secretary Narender Tokas, informed the Minister that while the Jats of Delhi have got OBC reservation they have still not been kept in the Centre’s OBC list under which Delhi University is governed.

Dr. Kumar said while the Delhi Police also came under the Centre, both the Central OBC list and the Delhi OBC list were accepted there. He, therefore, demanded that such a provision for accepting Delhi’s OBC list be introduced with respect to Delhi University.
